There are occasions when parties require the services of an impartial third-party mediator to resolve challenging disputes. With more than two decades of experience, Sheldon D. McMullen has effectively led and participated in hundreds of mediations within both state and federal courts, skillfully applying various high-conflict resolution techniques to benefit all parties involved. 


McMullen Mediation is recognized for its collaborative work with major insurance carriers and financial institutions and has experienced a proven track record of successful outcomes for both corporations and family-owned businesses. Sheldon's extensive mediation career has been dedicated to commercial litigation, real estate, civil cases, and family law.


Sheldon holds a B.A. from Florida State University and a J.D. from Nova Southeastern, Shepard Broad College of Law. 

He is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida and is admitted to all federal courts in the state.

MEDIATION POLICIES

RESPONSIBILITY OF ATTORNEYS 

Each party's attorney, if any, shall be responsible for the timely delivery of each party's fees.

TRAVEL EXPENSES

Significant travel expenses (e.g., air travel, rental car, meals, and lodging, when engagement requires) will be discussed, and prepayment arrangements will be made with the parties at least 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the first day of the mediation conference.

PREPARATION TIME (if applicable)

The review of the Pre-Mediation Summary and other documents beyond 30 minutes per party will be billed to that party at the rate of $275.00 per hour. If the total review time does not exceed 30 minutes, no fee is charged.

CANCELLATION POLICY

There is no charge for cancellation, except for scheduled mediation conferences for which significant travel expenses have been incurred by the mediator. In such circumstances, notice of cancellation or postponement of a scheduled mediation conference must be received at least 2 full business days (excluding intervening weekends or federal holidays) prior to the scheduled commencement of the mediation conference. Absent such timely notification, the parties will be billed their pro-rata shares of the cancellation/postponement fee:

  • Pro-rata share of travel expenses incurred, e.g., airline change fees or penalties.
